The air source station is one of the key auxiliary equipment in the test bench, which can provide compressed air with different pressure, flow and temperature to meet different types of test requirements.

The compressor is the core equipment of the air source station. The safety, stability, reliability, frequent starting and successful grid connection of the compressor can greatly improve the operation efficiency of the air source station.

The AC drives used as soft starter for compressor in air source station should meet the following technical characteristics:

• large starting torque, suitable for different types of compressor load;

• the starting current is controllable and will not cause voltage drop of the grid;

• the starting torque is controllable and will not impact the mechanical equipment;

• accurate frequency and phase locking technologies, which will not impact the power grid during the synchronization process;

• safe and reliable multi-motor switching control technology, single frequency converter can realize time-sharing start of multiple motors

• the unique VSV technology can realize the harmonic filtering and reactive power compensation function of the power grid;

There are totally 8 compressors in this project, Input voltage is 6kV, and output voltage is 6kV also. Motor power is 14MW*2PCS, 10MW*2PCS, 7.2MW*2PCS and 6MW*2PCS.

Nancal choose 2units of MV AC drives to realize the time sharing start of 8motors.

Each VFD drives 4motors. If one VFD trip, another one can drive 8motors.

 

The parameters of the AC drives are also follows:

Model: NC HVVF 6/6-5500

Input voltage: 6Kv

Output voltage: 6kv

Output capacity: 5500kw

 

 

The two frequency converters are standby to each other, which not only guarantees the integrity and reliability of the starting system, but also saves the site installation space.

 

Nancal Medium voltage frequency converter is based on high performance vector control technology, which can realize the control for asynchronous motor, synchronous motor, permanent magnet motor. The whole process of starting and interconnection will not cause any impact on power grid and mechanical equipment, which can realize the frequent starting of the machine.
